Happy New Year from The Winery at Wilcox!!!

With 2009 behind us and 2010 roaring into life we at The Winery at Wilcox want to tell about a special event that we have been working on.

We will be releasing our newest special designer “blue bottle” on Monday March 1st. The name is Lucia and is named for my beautiful daughter Lucy. The wine will be a dessert style Reisling as always but the big change is that this year’s “blue bottle” isn’t blue at all, it’s PINK!

The Winery at Wilcox will be going pink for the whole month of March to promote Lucia’s release as well as support a much greater cause that we at the winery are very serious about … breast cancer awareness. There is not a person employed here at the winery (or anywhere for that matter) that has not been affected on a personal level by breast cancer. It disrupts the very fabric of our lives by attacking the foundation of our families, namely women. Every day a mother, a daughter, a sister, a relative (close or distant), or a dear friend is taken too early by this terrible disease leaving a hole in our lives which is unable to be filled. But there is something we can do. We can promote awareness locally and help to ensure that our community has all the facts and tools to deal with this disease whether it is prevention, treatment, continuing care, or grief counseling. We are fortunate to have one the regions’ premier cancer treatment centers in our own back yard, the Hahne Cancer Center of the Dubois Regional Medical Center.

To that end The Winery at Wilcox has partnered with Breast Care Services at the Hahne Regional Cancer Center of the Dubois Regional Medical Center to promote breast cancer awareness. A portion of the proceeds from each and every bottle of Lucia sold will be donated to the Hahne Regional Cancer Center for use in Breast Care Services unit. In addition, we will be collecting donations for Breast Care Services at all three of our locations during the month of March. We know that October is traditionally breast cancer awareness month but we’re not standing on ceremony because lets face it, there is no bad time to promote breast cancer awareness. All monies collected will be donated to Breast Care Services at the Hahne Regional Cancer Center of the Dubois Regional Medical Center and the monies will be spent locally.

So, come to The Winery at Wilcox in March and get a bottle of Lucia. Get a great bottle of wine and support a great cause!! We hope to see you soon.

Thank you for your support,
